Back To Her Creative Education Roots In Chicago
Deliberate Underground Tour
Wear Recycle; Spark Here

Chicago, Illinois- Cobra Lounge. Nicky Watts, conceptual artist and producer of Wear Recycle, returns to Chicago to reunite with her arts educational roots while raising funds for her grand move to Los Angeles in December. Deliberate Underground is the name of the tour and is Watts’ second national tour. While in Chicago, Watts will paint 4 84”x120” paintings for the Nice Never Lasts; Wear Recycle Poster Show, step in as a guest lecturer at University of Illinois at Chicago, and close with a fundraiser at Cobra Lounge on Sept 24,, 2011.

“Chicago will always be a place of return. My seven year experience here was rich with incredibly talented people, cutting edge art exhibitions, great music, and a lot lot lot of whiskey. This time around, the Get Up With The Get Downs have invited me to host Wear Recycle; Spark Here at their concert. I’m so excited. We use to get crazy together! The whiskey will definitely be flowing, good tunes will be rocking, and friends, fans, and followers will finally have access to the new Wear Recycle in person! This is not an evening to miss” says Watts.

Nicky Watts moved to Chicago in 2001 to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After completing a year, she decided to transfer to University of Illinois at Chicago. UIC resonated with her because of their educational base in research. They focus on how to develop a full idea, research the idea, and decide the medium based off what will get this idea across. This way of developing art is very evident in Wear Recycle.

Wear Recycle stands for the Wear-ing down of Recycle-d behavior patterns. The project intends on teaching people how to find their own outlet to deal with the parts of themselves they do not prefer. Watts’ outlet is collaborative art, conceptual process, and tedious craft. There are five different types of exhibitions that come out of Wear Recycle; Wear Recycle; Torn Apart, Wear Recycle Poster Shows Series, Mediums Explored, Moments Captured in Time; Wear Recycle Digital Photography, and the Livin performances. This tour is to promote Nice Never Lasts; Wear Recycle Poster Show while raising capital to move to Los Angeles in December.

Nice Never Lasts; Wear Recycle Poster Show is the second of seven in this series. The final paintings were produced during a seven day Livin performance that took place in the heart of historical San Francisco, Dolores Park. The eight paintings were exhibited at Mission and 18th in the Mission District, San Francisco on Aug 24th, 2011. Over fifty-five people contributed artistically and more who volunteered. It was incredible to have so many people involved. Check out the Wear Recycle facebook page for photos.
