There have been drastic changes to the Nice Never Lasts; Wear Recycle Poster Show, Livin, San Francisco
Livin is the performance portion of the Wear Recycle Poster Show series. In Livin, San Francisco the plan is to paint 8 84"x120" paintings in Dolores Park in 7 days. When not at the park or in transit, I would be alone meditating and becoming comfortable with myself, something I've always struggle with.
The point of Livin is to identify a specific time in which I am to devote attention to problem behaviors in my life. I pick locations and times that challenge my comfort zones so that I am at a more vulnerable place emotionally to demonstrate the patterns I want to change. I document my findings during the experience and use the information to react differently in future situations. The art work is a result of this exploration. Collaboration and interaction are leading aspects of each exploration.
The project location I had previously planned on Russian Hill has become unavailable.
I contacted vacation renters and searched craigslist but no resolution. The only way I can replicate my original plan of being alone is a hotel. Due to budget, I am unable to do that. Right now I don't have a plan of where I'm going to stay each night. This was an original idea for this performance, but was narrowed out because of safety concerns. I had decided that being literally unsafe does not add to the success of the performance. In addition, it adds further concerns of access to healthy food, storage of my stuff, and bathroom use.
Another solution has not come forth yet. I don't feel right asking for sponsorship for a hotel room when I need to raise $1251 to keep my obligations previously agreed upon in my artist residency, including my departure date.
When I have exceeded raising the $1251 that I need to keep my obligations to leave + enough for a hotel = I will invest in a hotel for the performance. Until then the plan is either to sleep outside or find people to host me for the whole performance, or a night.
If you want to assure me a hotel room (honestly, what I think would be most successful for the performance and only not for sure because of funding) Then follow the donate sign. You won't regret it because I'll never give up :)
