Announcement of Nice Never Lasts, Livin, San Francisco Aug 20-27, 2011
I am the producer of Wear Recycle and will be performing my Nice Never Lasts; Wear Recycle Poster Show Livin San Francisco performance between Delores Park and Russian Hill in San Francisco Aug 20-27, 2011. I will attempt to paint eight 84"x 120" paintings in seven days with mainly donated material. I intend on exhibiting them on buildings on Aug 28th, but will need to identify the how during the performance.
The importance of the performance is to push me out of my comfort zone so that I am forced to evaluate negative behavior patterns I experience. There are two ways to define success for this performance: if I've followed the guidelines of the performance and taken advantage of the opportunity to learn about myself, grow and effectively communicate this growth to a larger audience. The second is whether I've completed the eight paintings and exhibited on the sides of buildings. The ideal exhibition will be to have all 8 on buildings in close proximity to one another all day on Sunday the the 28th of Aug. There will be some sort of closing gathering Sunday night.
Details:
The performance will start when I arrive at the Russian Hill apartment I will be staying in for the duration of the performance. Once I enter the apartment for the evening direct communication through phone will end during the performance. Strict guidelines will be enforced for necessary work communications. No personal conversation is allowed.
Every morning at 7am I will leave the Russian hill apartment and make my way to Delores Park. According to the guidelines, I am not allowed to spend any money, so I will be walking or will find a ride. No rides will be set up prior. I will paint at the park until 8pm. Once the paint dries I will return to Russian Hill and face to face contact will end for the evening.
While at Russian Hill, I will learn to be quiet and comfortable alone. I will write, reflect, and organize but most importantly I will meditate for at least two hours a night. I’ve never spent consecutive days meditating.
For the duration of the performance I must raise $1251 to depart with my stuff from Oakland and continue the rest of the tour. I am due to leave Oakland no later than Sept 1st. www.facebook.com/#!/wearrecycle?sk=info
During the performance I will be required to record documentation through video, voice , and writing. These documentations need to be uploaded for public viewing before the close of the performance.

During the performance I have to raise $1251 to clear up tail ends in the Bay, move on from Oakland and continue the rest of my tour. The tour goes from LV to LA, Chicago, Ohio (http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=168896693172040), back to Chicago (http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=203937959648347 and artist talk at University of Illinois at Chicago), New York, Vermont, Massachusetts (http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=194846260561051), New Hampshire, and Maine. The tour ends with three exhibitions in Las Vegas in November, Nice Never Lasts and two unique Mediums Explored installations, one at Zen Yoga at Emergency Arts and the CAC display window in the Arts Factory.
I am not allowed to give money. I am not to exchange in that fashion. I will practice taking and accepting, something I struggle with. Exception, I can make two trips to the market. I do not have to ask for food. I can receive it, but will be prepared to eat what I bring.
No rides between Russian Hill and Delores Park can be planned prior to performance, but they can be accepted. Driver is not to go inside. Or to help bring my stuff upstairs. I must do that on my own.
