The Happiness Hypothesis started out a fantastic book. An argument presenting the possibility that one's level of happiness is carried through genes. Generally, our level of happiness is regulated through our predestined script and is extremely difficult to change. I liked the argument because it essentially challenges everything I'm trying to prove within Wear Recycle.
The book then took a deep fall as it tried to bring the idea of happiness to religion, opposing conflicts, and then the real down fall: the meaning of life. For a book that had such a great focused start, by the end it broadened the subject matter so vaguely that it turned into a cheesy cliche' theory about how happiness in life roots from somewhere in between science and spirituality. Because I couldn't have read 15 billion other books that would tell me the same thing....without teasing me with research I'm much more interested in hearing more about.
